Chiropractic is a form of therapy that has existed for thousands of years.

Its name is derived from the Greek word for hand (chiros). Accordingly, the hand is in principle the only tool used by the chiropractor in diagnosis and therapy.

Modern chiropractic is based on the American chiropractor D. Palmer and the founder of osteopathy, A.T. Still.
In Germany, only doctors and alternative practitioners are permitted to practise chiropractic. A sound knowledge of anatomy and a well-trained sense of touch form the basis for successfully practising the therapy.

Chirotherapy deals with disorders in the function of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. Three main techniques are used:

  • Soft tissue techniques = treatment of the muscles
  • Mobilisation of the joints
  • Manipulation of the joints

I use chiropractic therapy in my practice as part of osteopathy. After a detailed medical history and examination, gentle chiropractic manipulations are used, provided there are no contraindications.
The focus is always on a responsible approach, taking a holistic view of the complaints. This ensures that the techniques are practised effectively and safely.
The therapy session is concluded with simple exercises in the sense of “self-mobilisation” and to improve strength and stability in order to achieve the longest possible improvement.
